Back to hobbies ... and Life

Finally got a decent photo of our black pug. He's a beut! He has to think about things alot before dealing with them. He has to sniff and sniff and sniff on a spot and think about what it all means. While the boston terrier would just take a quick sniff and head out looking for things to eat or things to chase. The collar he wears has lots of spikes on it ... just to keep Sheba from chewing on it or using it to pull him around.

Humanure -- nothing better to do ...

This is one of the more amusing and informative reads that I have come across. It can even be downloaded free:

The one that we made and used in our mobile home is actually pictured in the book ... how do we know? We recognize the trailer wallpaper and floor vent. :-)

I just bought this book and am really enjoying it. I haven't made the leap yet because we are renting and I don't know how long we'll be here. But I'm so doing this at the old family cabin next summer. Can't wait. Now I have to go look at the pictures and see if I can find yours.

Get started by building the sawdust toilet (pgs 162 - 163 or .pdf 166-167)... then buy a bag of compost or peat moss as cover material ... put some inside the sawdust toilet ... and stare at it for awhile wondering if you or anyone else would ever use it.

That's what we did ... until the water heater sprung a leak ... and we had to shut off all the water ... NO FLUSH TOILETS!! ... so we used the sawdust toilet. And it wasn't that big of a deal. (pg 168 or .pdf 171 lower left corner)

I think I'll make another one and put it in the workshop so I don't have to walk clear back to the house ... :0)
