Back to hobbies ... and Life

Finally got a decent photo of our black pug. He's a beut! He has to think about things alot before dealing with them. He has to sniff and sniff and sniff on a spot and think about what it all means. While the boston terrier would just take a quick sniff and head out looking for things to eat or things to chase. The collar he wears has lots of spikes on it ... just to keep Sheba from chewing on it or using it to pull him around.

SQUIRREL!

Being a well-rounded individual ...
who might eventually decide what to be in life ...
I am currently trading emails
with Fielding Institute
in Santa Barbara, CA
about
their doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.

I think this bust represents
my exemplary skills and state of being.

And then the boston terrier got lost this morning while chasing after a SQUIRREL!  I went to church and my wife eventually found her ... using prayer, of course.  Now why didn't I think of that ... instead of just whistling and calling for her.

Strider

I've gone through this little town a couple of times ...
have seen this statue ...
AND FINALLY
stopped
to take a foto or two of it.

It has league-eating strides ...
and roams the earth at night.

where men are found all safely bundled

While visions of Ameros dance through their heads ...

Day at Camp RR

Before Alex would get up on the horse ...
his friend had to get up on it,
then I had to ride it,
somebody had to hold onto the other side of the saddle to keep it from sliding over to the left side while I climbed up .. I don't think the cinch was tight enough ...
and finally we got Alex to get up and take a ride.

Horses seem really big and a bit scary to a city kid.

Lunch was PB&J sandwiches, chips, and cookies.
Nothing but the finest health food served.

Blackberries in season

Blackberries are in season.  There are lots of them.  Ripe. Wonderful. Tasty.

1) You just have to be willing to stick your hand into the briar patch (and suffer the prickly bloody consequences) to get them.  I have the scratches and painful spots to prove this.

2) And suffer thru the heat and humidity ...

Those are the only limiting factors on how many blackberries end up in your bucket.
Mine was only half-full.  And I was the only one out there picking them.  Everyone else went swimming in the lake.  Sigh.

About Life ...

Life really isn't all that long.

It may seem like it is when you are very young ...
It may seem like an eternity of misery when you are having problems ...

Time passes.
Not all that long ago, I remember my father was younger than I am now ...
Yet he has passed on ...

And I am now facing the last stretch of years.

A year is nothing ...
We barely moved here a few months ago ...
And it is already more than 3 years that have gone by.

Inside every old looking person ...
Is a young person peering out ...
Who is very shocked every time they look in a mirror.

A Godwink

I've been reading a book called "When God Winks At You" ...

Then today I emailed Jack and asked about him TIG-welding up a bicycle frame for me.  It would be the same as one that I already own, but with a bigger main-tube.  I also said that I wanted a 20" BMX style rear wheel with 7-speed gears.

So, the wife and I were driving around together late this afternoon and came across a yard sale ... 2 counties over.  Where for a reasonable price, I purchased a 7-spd BMX bicycle.  Just what I need for the bicycle I asked Jack to weld.
Coincidence? ... Or ... a Godwink?

Another - What is it?

I ran across this rather strange object ...
Which looks rather like a modified paddle.

What is it?

In Honor of My Friend

Lucky Mataele Sr.

This is in honor of my dear friend
Who recently passed away
quite suddenly
of a heart attack.

I really enjoyed our friendship
and knowing him.

Recent Activities

I'm not sure if you can really appreciate the sacrifice
that these have made ...
However, our grandsons were suitably impressed
as they violently expanded from hydrostatic shock.
They were all gently lifted up, carefully wrapped in a plastic bag, and deposited in the rolling green container ...
where they will honorably remain ...
until the garbage truck arrives on Monday.

This was followed by a fun game of UNO ...
Gramps won.  :-)
