Back to hobbies ... and Life

Finally got a decent photo of our black pug. He's a beut! He has to think about things alot before dealing with them. He has to sniff and sniff and sniff on a spot and think about what it all means. While the boston terrier would just take a quick sniff and head out looking for things to eat or things to chase. The collar he wears has lots of spikes on it ... just to keep Sheba from chewing on it or using it to pull him around.

Sunny Day

I loved the different blue colors of the mountains when I took this foto ...

Got up at 4:00 a.m. ... ran down to Grand Ridge, FL to pick up the trailer (that was supposed to have been fixed) and drove to Blakely, GA to pick up another load of blanched peanuts. Seven times (7x), they had to reload the truck next to me because the bags were tall and heavy ... and he ended up with too much weight on his drive axles. It started out with 5,000 lbs too much on the drives ... they reloaded and he was down to 2,000 lbs too much ... so the 7th time was the charm. (He said that after the 6th time, he wanted them to pull the load off, leave the load on the dock and he'd just drive away.) Fortunately mine worked out the first time ... a double stack of empty pallets in the front ,,, followed by a single pallet of peanuts in the center ... then another single pallet of peanuts in the center ... then 5 rows of 2 ... one single ... and 2 side-by-side ... about 42,000 lbs worth. It came out with 33280 lbs on the drives and 32100(?) on the trailer tandems with only 11100 lbs on the steers with almost a full tank of fuel. EXCELLENT! You say, "Huh?" The maximum limits are 12,000 on the steers, 34,000 on the drives and 34,000 on the trailer tandems ... total gross weight of 80,000 lbs.

I was back home at noon ... it's a sunny warm day ... wearing a t-shirt and pants (see foto below right) I went out for a little 16 mile ride on my recumbent bicycle. A lovely day here in "L.A." ... and they are talking about more snow sunday when I get to Chicago. Ugh! :0)
